Memory is a terrible thing to waste but I can't remember my old Platoon number from my days at MCRD. I remember we formed up late April or early May of 1965. Two of the DI's I remember were Sgt. Darst and Cpl. Skull. The platoon guide was a fellow named Tisdale. I also recall that we made ITR in the sweltering heat of July. I ran into Sgt. Darst at Phu Bai and he had been made a mustang Lt. That was 07/66. Cpl. Skull went on to become a Sgt. Major. Anyway if you were in that platoon I would be extemely grateful for any info you may have regarding the number. (for some reason 327, 3rd Bn. keeps coming to mind). I also recall that we were called the pickup platoon but still managed to make honor plattoon upon graduation.

What I don't see listed here is WHERE you attended boot camp. If it was San Diego then you have one option I'd start with. Contact the Marine Corps Historical Society at San Diego (619-524-4426) and gve them the information you've supplied here. They are very helpfull...

Steve,

If you went to boot camp at Parris Island, call the Parris Island Museum's recruit photo section. With the information you have, they should be able to determine when you graduated and then check to see if they have a recruit graduation photo.

The number to call is: (843) 228-1555.
