Well, I used to be Sgt. Ken Rock back in that time frame.
I worked inside the hangar in the Hydraulic Shop.
I probably said hi to you guys at the snack bar.
I can't beleive it was that long ago.
Computers have changed quite a bit since. Now they call it IT instead of DP
I was attached to the Wing DP unit from 9/72 to 3/74 after going through the computer school at Quantico, summer of 72. I went from a keypunch operator to operating and programming the IBM 1401. You were probably there when they pulled the plug on the 1401 which I understand they did soon after I separated. I don't remember you or any of the names you mentioned. My name:George Vogt, corporal, from New Jersey. Good luck to you.

I arrived at El Toro in late December 1973. I was at the old wooden receiving barracks next to the EM Club for about a week before moving to the new barracks directly across the street from the PX. I too started out as a keypuch operator before working as an operator on the 1401. My very 1st assignment when I reported in to the DPC was to go downstairs with a couple of other newbies and request some buckets of flightline. :-) All I remember was that a Sgt & a Cpl sent us on that assignment. Hey maybe it was you...ha ha. I think one of the Cpl's name was Garzoli. Does that name ring a bell. There was Top Phillips (MstGySgt), Top Austreng (Master Sgt), and Major Moore are other names that I remember. PFC Colquitt was another. Anyways, I left El Toro in June of 1974 and finally returned in March 1976. It's good to hear from someone from El Toro. It was a great duty station. Take Care...Semper Fi
