Eldon 'Buck' Cetak, 82, of Ord died Nov. 27, 2008, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln.

Mr. Cetak's wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ord Christian Church. The Rev. Greg Barnes will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Ord American Legion Post 7029 and VFW Post 38.

Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cetak was born Dec. 11, 1925, at Ord to Joseph and Mary (Smarda) Cetak.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Cetak, on Sept. 6, 2002.

Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Gary Kuck and Sally and Bob Peterson, all of Lincoln; a brother, George Cetak of Ord; and a sister, Zola McFeely of Yelm, Wash.

Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Lance and Scott Kuck and Ashley and Tyler Peterson; four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Chandler and Gavin Kuck and Harper Rosenstiel; He also is survived by his in-laws and their spouses, Opal Jacobsen of Minnetonka, Minn., Keith and Beverly Polinoski of St. George, Utah, Carol Rothe of Corona, Calif., Gordon and Nancy Poliniski of Burwell and Kay and Rollie Davis of McCool Junction; and many nieces and nephews.

Buck grew up in Ord, where he also received his education. In February of 1944, he entered the United States Marine Corps and served in World War II. He was discharged in April of 1946. After the service, Mr. Cetak returned to Ord and worked at the Northside Meat Market and later operated Buck's locker plant at North Loup.

On Dec. 6, 1949, Buck was united in marriage to Lois Polinoski at Ord. The couple made their home in Ord. Buck was the longtime manager of Ord Veterans Club and also had managed the Ord Elks Lodge.

He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW, was a charter member of the Ord Elks Lodge and also belonged to the ZCBJ Lodge. He enjoyed polka music, hunting, fishing, training and breeding dogs and the outdoors.

All who knew Buck are grateful for the enthusiasm he shared with them about his love of nature. We will forever miss the 'strongest man in the world,' father and grandfather to many and friend to all.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jim, Joe and Charlie; a sister, Mary Abbott, and an infant sister, Anna.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Valley County American Cancer Society, VFW Post 7029 or the VFW Honor Flight or to the family for later designation.
