Exclamation Mgysgt walter 'ray' herman, 73, raymore mo

"Walter 'Ray' Herman, Jr. of Raymore, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. Ray was born in Bentleyville, PA, Dec. 22, 1939 to Walter, Sr. and Stella Herman. He graduated from Charleroi, PA Senior High School in 1958.
In 1959, Ray began his 20 year career with the U.S. Marine Corps which included serving in the Vietnam War and two tours of duty as a drill instructor in Parris Island, SC.
He then worked 15 years as a civil service employee for the Federal Government. Ray is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ted. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of 52 years, daughters Debra and Barbara, five grandchildren and two great grandsons, four brothers, and a sister. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 11901 Pflumm Rd., OPKS with funeral service on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 8300 Quivira, Rd., Lenexa, KS. Family suggests contributions to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church Icon Fund or The Young Marines of Richards Gebaur, 926 Hanger Rd., KCMO 64147. Arrangements by McGilley & George Funeral Home 12913 Grandview Rd.
