Russell George Slowe, Sr, 80, Pocatello, ID

MONTPELIER - He marched to a different beat of the drum. Russell George Slowe, Pocatello, Idaho, passed on Thursday morning, November 12, 2009, at 2:30 a.m. at the Bear Lake Hospital in Montpelier, Idaho.

He had resided in Montpelier for the past seven years. He was the second son born to Ben and Delphine B. Slowe, deceased residents of Pocatello, Idaho. He was born February 28, 1929, in northern Wisconsin. His older brother, Norman Slowe, Cashmere, Washington, passed on several years ago. His younger sister, Sharon Slowe Macarty, resides in Pocatello, Idaho. His five children, Ben Slowe IV, Trish Carroll, and Michael Slowe, live in Washington and Idaho. He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Slow Jr. Russell is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was a businessman and worked, owned, operated and designed jewelry, which he sold in his Indian Jewelry Store that was located in Ogden, Utah. He was known as Crazy Horse. In his younger years he owned a furniture store with his wife, Della Slowe. Previously, he worked in construction and for the Guy Nielsen Construction Company of Pocatello, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held in Montpelier at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Online guest book and condolences available at www.cornelisonfh.com.

Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 Russell George Slowe, Sr. passed on to the other side. His body was tired and his spirit was laden with the cares and worries of the world. He was ready to pass on. He marched to a different beat of the drum. Russell George Slowe, Sr. of Pocatello, Idaho left us at 2:10 a.m. on a Thursday morning. He was the second son born to Ben and Delphine B. Slowe.

Ben and Delphine were born and grew up in the Wabeno, Forest County area. Russell was born on Feb. 28, 1929, in Wabeno. His older brother, Norman Slowe of Cashmere, Wash., passed on several years ago, as well as his third child, Russell Slowe, Jr.

His five children live in Washington and Idaho. His sister, Sharon, lives in Pocatello, Idaho. Sharon will be bringing Russell’s ashes back to the Wabeno Cemetery in the spring. They will be spread among his most beloved relatives. Russell was a Marine and is from a family of United States Marines.

Previously, he worked in construction and for the Guy Nielsen Construction Company of Pocatello, Idaho.

Russell was the father of five children, Benjamin L. Slowe IV, Russell Slowe Jr. (deceased), Patricia Jahr Carroll Slowe, Michael Slowe and Louis Slowe.

When Sharon’s mother passed on, there were those that tried to phone her, but were not able to reach her. For that reason, Sharon is publishing her phone number (208) 478-9048. She would love to hear from friends of the family.
