I notice on their website that they only have the books from MCRD San Diego. Is there another contact where we might find them from Parris Island?? I've been kicking myself for not forking over the cash back then. Thanks

Unlike San Diego, there doesn't appear to be any specific contact to obtain Parris Island grad books or platoon photos. However, there's always ebay... but you have to be very careful there because some of the graduation books listed do not contain the individual recruit photos at the back of the book; only the standard color pictures in the front of the book. And, some of the PISC grad books are way overpriced.
Hope this helps.

I went to PI a couple years back and checked on the rad books. I was told I could get the group picture but not the grad books.

For the record....

Parris Island, who differs from San Diego only keeps records on recruit graduations for four years. The Marine Corps Times however does contain archives that can be search that may go back a little farther.

For MCRD, PISC....

Q: Where can I get a copy of my recruit training series book or platoon photo?

A: Platoon photos are available at Parris Island back to 1939. Photos taken between 1939 and 1950 are limited, however. Individual photos of Marines are also available, but only go back for four years. Recruit training series books are not available. To find out how to get photos, call Recruit Photo at (843) 228-1555.

For MCRD, San Diego.....

Q: Where can I get a copy of my recruit training series book or individual/platoon graduation photo?

A: Recruit series book, platoon and individual photos are available at the Yearbook Office. Yearbooks and photos are kept for two years. They can be reached at (619) 296-3840.

Yearbooks and photos older than two years can be purchased at the Museum Historical Society. The Museum Historical Society has an archive of old recruit platoon graduation photos dating back to the 1930s and also offers some recruit yearbooks for sale. Yearbooks from the 1980's and 1990's are available in limited quantities. Platoon graduation photos and yearbooks may be purchased through the Society at (619) 524-4426.

As some have mentioned in this thread..

EBay is an option for finding graduation books, this site is another. Many graduation books are being stored here at Yellow Footprints. We keep a listing of those books sent in for scanning as well as those emailed to us.
List the platoon your looking for and we'll search our archives and member/non-member files to see if we can locate you book. If the book has been registered with this site you should find it in the boot camp database.

Lightbulb PI Plt. 313 Jan. - Mar. 1966

I have a copy of the PI Platoon 313 Yearbook and Grad. Photo to send in and be scanned into the data base then returned to me.

Drop me a line with a mailing address. Oldbuck@comcast.net

ps. I'm only one of the 13 men from my old home town in the unit that was called the b-stard platoon because it was the first group of draftees since Korea. We also won all 5 flags in the unit competitions because our D-Is were determined to make us Marines.

Have responded to Old Bucks post...

For the record ALL scanned pictures from your boot camp graduation book should be sent to;

gmiller@yellowfootprints.com

Once your platoon and personal sections have been created and data entered you will receive a return email comfirming that data entry has been completed.

Please don't forget to give us permission to create your personal section and the adding of your email address.
The addition of your email address gives your fellow Marines the abilitiy to contact you directly.

I have your info on my master list of being books being sought, Doc.

Other than ebay, here is a link that gets updated periodically that you may want to keep tabs on:

http://blmilitarycollectibles.com/mm...egory_Code=MCB

Due to it being winter in my part of the country, there are limited estate/rummage sales, etc., for me to check out. I still get to my local military collectible store, tho, but they haven't been able to find grad books lately, either.

Your request hasn't been forgotten, Doc.
