Welcome To Yellow Footprints
|
Welcome to Yellow Foot Prints
Yellow foot prints, where the journey began, where the rest of your
life will be changed forever. Yellow footprint is a historical data resource
center with information that starts with boot camp, and ends with a Marines
final duty station. WHY this web site when there are so many Marine sites
on the Internet today. Although there are many great Marine Corps webs
sites on the net, there are none like this site and the content it provides.
Yellow Foot Prints is about historical information, information not found
within the Marine Corps archives, and certainly information not found on
the Internet in a searchable database. Although Yellow Foot Prints has
many databases, none are as important as our Boot Camp graduation database,
or the Obituary database.
Boot
Camp Database:
The boot camp database is the only searchable database on the Internet
today! It starts from the late 1930's and continues through the present day.
It covers both Parris Island and San Diego with listings
of location, platoon numbers, recruit names, and rank at graduation where
available. When available, graduation books are scanned and coped into
the database that include Drill Instructor page as well as recruit photos.
In many cases graduation books have been purchased and scanned into the
database as well. One very unique entry is platoon 2060 that graduated
in 1957, that would be Lee Harvey Oswald's platoon. Another feature of
this database is the ability of members to post their scanned pictures from their time in the Corps.
The new email feature is the addition of email addresses that can now be added to the boot camp database within each platoon section. Add your email address for ease of contact by your fellow recruits.
Obituary
database:
The Obituary database is also searchable, and contains entries that
include but are not limited to Arlington National Cemetery, The Wall, and
KIA from Iraq that includes Desert Storm, and past wars as Korea, and Viet
Nam. This is an active database that even members can enter information
about loved one's, or brother Marines. |

Attention on deck,
Link section update;
When visiting our new links of interest section in the forums area we have been adding links we feel might interest you. Yellow Footprints is not like many web sites that do not want you to talk about other web sites. WE on the other hand feel any web site that helps you Marines connect or find your brother and sister Marines SHOULD be posted for all to see. We encurrage you to support and visit all Marine Corps site.
For you new visitors (you notice I didn't say members) you can have your platoon sections as well as a personal section created in the boot camp database whether your a member or not. We do not require you to become a member to add your historical information to this great database. If you have any questions or comments you can reach out to any of the administrators, or me at gmiller@yellowfootprints.com
LtGen "Chesty" Puller statue
For those interested in supporting this mission here is the following information I received yesterdat (4/28/09).....
My name is Jim Barnett , and I am a retired Marine First Sergeant. I have formed a committee of former Marines , through the Seagoing Marine Association, and authorized by LtGen Ron Christmas of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation to have a statue built to honor LtGen "Chesty" Puller. It will be the first statue ever built to honor this great Marine, and we feel that it is long past due. It will be placed at a special site at the National Marine Corps Museum at Quantico. We would greatly appreciate it if you would join our team and disseminate this to any and all that you feel might help us in this worthwhile effort. If every one that you send this to would then send it to all of their friends , that would be fantastic. An article about our project has appeared in the November 2008 issue of "Leatherneck" magazine , and in a December 2008 issue of "Marine Corps Times". Marines have always been known to help their fellow Marines in need , and that is why I am asking for your help.
