SGT Ed Marr was one of my junior "hats"!! He trained platoon 1074 in the summer of 1976 along with SSGT William Bossaert, and SGT Dave Henricks.
Man, could he kick ass and take names!
If you're out there Ed, SEMPER FI

Mark Lauer, PLT 1074 Grad. Oct 1976

I also recognize Gunny Pressler. He was Senior in one of the other platoons in my series. If I remember he retired that summer.
And I think SSGT Viescas was in that same group. Maybe even SGT Cornwall as well!

Sgt. Marr was a great DI. He had the ability to truly motivate people, could, as you say certainly kick ass (and he DID take names), and he did have a sense of humor though it was often at our expense!!! It would be great to hear from him. I once heard a rumor that he ended up with the California Highway Patrol, but I don't know if that was true or not. I think we may have been his first platoon.

We picked up Gunny Pressler in 3rd phase. He was fresh out of DI School-
that's why he's wearing a green belt.

There's a later picture of SSgt. Viescas
here on Yellow Footprints as the series gunny of, I think the 1122 series.

Don't know what happened with Sgt. Cornwall after 1109. All good DI's-
I'd be honored to shake their hands.
